Dan Tyminski
Dan Tyminski was just six years old when his parents began taking him to fiddle contests, square dances, and bluegrass festivals across New England. Those early experiences introduced him to a musical world that would shape his future. For a young musician who would later become one of the most recognizable voices in modern bluegrass, watching live performances was transformative. “Watching live music always spoke to me much louder than sitting in front of my record player,” he recalls. “I loved it. Wherever music was being played, I wanted to go watch.” That passion for live music has remained at the core of his career.
Over more than 30 years, Tyminski has left a lasting mark on bluegrass and beyond. His voice famously accompanied George Clooney’s performance of “I Am A Man of Constant Sorrow” in O Brother, Where Art Thou?, helping introduce bluegrass to a global audience. He also reached new listeners through his collaboration with Avicii on the worldwide hit “Hey Brother,” which has surpassed a billion streams.
Through his solo work, his time with Alison Krauss and Union Station, and his acclaimed live performances, Tyminski continues to honor bluegrass tradition while bringing its spirit to new audiences.
